Bağlamış Announced Sacrificial Animal Prices Before Eid al-Adha
Kayseri Commodity Exchange (KTB) Board Chairman Recep Bağlamış, in a press briefing at the Exchange’s conference hall, announced the prices of sacrificial livestock. He stated that the recommended price for male cattle is 270 TL per live kilogram, female cattle is 220 TL, male sheep (ram) is 250 TL, and the price for sheep is 220 TL per live kilogram.
Bağlamış explained that the price for a share of a large animal (beef) ranges between 25,000 to 30,000 TL, while the price for a small livestock (sheep) is between 10,000 to 20,000 TL. He also provided details about the slaughter and processing costs: the slaughter fee for large animals is 5,000 TL, the butchering fee is 3,500 TL, the slaughter fee for small animals is 1,000 TL, the butchering fee for small animals is 1,000 TL, and the cost for mincing (ground meat) is 15 TL per kilogram.
Bağlamış further emphasized that sacrificial animals could be slaughtered in slaughterhouses designated by the Provincial Agricultural Directorates and municipalities, private abattoirs, and facilities where sacrificial animals are sold. He mentioned that last year, between 3,500 and 5,000 large and small animals were sold in the city, and he expects similar numbers this year.
Stressing that there is no significant increase in red meat prices across Turkey, Bağlamış explained, “Only the Meat and Milk Institution (Et ve Süt Kurumu) has negotiated with retailers to supply directly, which has led to a reduction in prices. The process from birth to the table for an animal takes about two years, and it has its own cost. In fact, red meat prices across Turkey are currently at normal levels.”
The meeting was attended by Kayseri Red Meat Producers Union President Ercan Aras, Butchers and Livestock Dealers Chamber President Mustafa Bayırbaş, and Kayseri Chamber of Veterinarians President Akgün Ergül.
