History

The Kayseri Commodity Exchange was established upon the request of the Ministry of Trade, with the letter dated 14.02.1964 and numbered 4/2323. Following this, a meeting was held on 28.04.1964 under the chairmanship of the then Kayseri Governor Kazım ATAKUL, with the participation of members of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and prominent local figures. During this meeting, a committee consisting of H. Ali ÇAYIRAĞASI, İsmail ÖZKAN, Seyit ALEMDAR, Alim GÜLER, and Ahmet MİRAP was formed to carry out the establishment procedures.

The committee held its first meeting on September 30, 1964, and elected H. Ali ÇAYIRAĞASI as its President. After completing all the establishment procedures, the elections for the Professional Committees were held on February 8, 1965. On February 15, 1965, the Exchange Council was formed, and on February 17, 1965, elections were held for the Council President, Vice President, Board of Directors, Chairman of the Board, and Vice Chairman. As a result, our Exchange officially began operations on March 1, 1965. Initially founded with 5 Professional Committees, our Exchange now consists of 7 committees.The Exchange has established a Live Animal Market at Elagöz, fully funded by its own resources. This facility continues to provide the best service with its ever-increasing capacity. The Live Animal Market, inaugurated on October 21, 2023, in the Elagöz area, covers an area of 27,000 m² and includes 4 paddocks, an administrative building, a feed warehouse, social facilities, and a guest accommodation house, offering the best services to live animal buyers and sellers.

Since 1965, our Exchange has been managed by 16 Council Members representing 8 professional organizations, elected every four years, and 5 members of the Board of Directors elected from among these members.

Management of Kayseri Commodity Exchange

Kayseri Commodity Exchange consists of 7 Professional Committees. The Exchange is managed by a 19-member Exchange Council, which is elected for a four-year term by those registered with the Exchange from among themselves, and a 5-member Board of Directors, which is also elected for a four-year term from among the members of the Exchange Council. The operations of the Exchange and all decisions made by the mentioned bodies are carried out by the administrative organization (Exchange Officers), working under the Secretary General, primarily led by the Secretary General. All activities within the Exchange are conducted within the framework of Law No. 5174, its related bylaws, special regulations, and customary practices (customary decisions) established by the Exchange Council.

Our Exchange holds the TS EN ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and TS ISO 10002:2018 Customer Satisfaction Management System certificates, and is also included in the TOBB Chamber/Exchange Accreditation System.

The Exchange has a total of 923 active members, with the sectors in which the registered members are primarily involved being Grains, Meat and Meat Products, Poultry, Eggs, Dairy and Dairy Products, and Live Animals.
